How the Reservoir Works
Using the included pipette, fill the pen from the back end until the ink reaches the fifth visible bead.
The ink then flows naturally down to the nib by capillary action.
If the flow doesn't start, gently blow from the back end of the pen over absorbent paper.
Once ink is visible at the nib, the pen is ready to write.
A filling pipette is included with every pen.
Compatible Inks
Use fluid water-based inks: watercolour inks, fine calligraphy inks, or certain fluid India inks.
Avoid metallic, acrylic, glitter, or gel inks.
Also avoid inks with thick binders, which can impede flow through the reservoir.
Good ink fluidity is essential for proper function.

After use, rinse the nib under clean water, then fill the pen with water from the back end.
Turn the nib upward and shake to expel the water and diluted ink.
Repeat if needed until the water runs clear. Warm water can help remove stubborn inks.
Store the pen in the included case to protect it.
The pen is made from borosilicate glass, a stronger glass than standard glass, commonly used in laboratory instruments and equipment.
It is designed for everyday normal use. Like any glass object, it simply needs to be protected from drops and excessive pressure on the nib.
Each pen comes with a rigid carrying box to store and protect it between uses. If the nib breaks, contact us to explore a possible repair.
The B1 is the most versatile pen. Its bevelled nib naturally varies line width based on the angle of your hand. It suits writing, drawing, sketching, and expressive lines.
The F3 is designed for precision. Its fine nib is ideal for detailed work, fine lines, and delicate strokes, with a line typically between 0.25 and 0.35 mm depending on the pen, ink, and paper.
For a first Requinrenard pen, the B1 is the most versatile choice. For very detailed work, the F3 will be better suited.
Handcrafted to order
Each B1 Glass Pen is flame-worked in our Marseille workshop. The glass is shaped one piece at a time, then inspected before shipping.
Write or draw for longer without having to reload as often.

Every nib is individually shaped and adjusted.
The B1 is a model developed by Requinrenard to solve a common limitation of traditional glass pens: having to reload too often. Its built-in reservoir lets you write or draw for longer without interrupting your stroke every few lines.
The 1–2 week production lead time reflects the time needed to make, inspect, and prepare your pen. Each piece is made to order.
Your pen rest
Optional accessory: designed for short breaks, it keeps the nib moist and protects your workspace.
Anti-drying
A small amount of water helps keep the nib moist during short breaks.
Controlled restart
A few strokes on a test sheet are enough to restore normal flow after a break.
Protection
Stable position, limiting the risk of staining or damaging the nib.
The pen rest is designed for short breaks. During longer pauses (20 to 30 minutes), all the ink may flow into the rest. Cleaning or refilling is then recommended.
The pen rest significantly reduces unnecessary interruptions and secures your workflow, without replacing good maintenance habits.
