A glass stand for short breaks.

The nib stand is designed to accompany the use of a glass dip pen during short breaks while drawing or writing. It helps slow down ink drying inside the nib tip and allows work to be resumed without immediate cleaning, provided that its usage instructions are respected.

Each stand is entirely handmade from transparent blown glass. Its shape and thickness may vary slightly, reflecting an artisanal production process.

A practical use.

The nib stand was designed based on the actual use of a glass dip pen. When a nib loaded with ink is left exposed to air, the ink quickly dries inside the capillary of the tip.

The stand incorporates a reservoir intended to hold a small amount of water, approximately 5 mm. By immersing only the tip, the water slows down ink drying and acts as a retarder, without completely blocking the ink flow.

Under these conditions, a nib loaded with ink gradually releases its ink into the water after 20 to 30 minutes. The stand is therefore particularly suited to short breaks, ranging from one to a few minutes. For longer breaks, it is recommended either to clean the nib or to leave it immersed to prevent drying.

The nib stand is a comfort tool designed to preserve continuity of gesture while working.

Production

Handmade, in small batches.

Pour approximately 5 mm of water into the reservoir. Place the ink-loaded nib so that only the tip is immersed. The water slows drying and allows work to resume without cleaning.

The stand is designed for short breaks, from one to a few minutes. After 20 to 30 minutes, the nib gradually releases ink into the water. For longer breaks, clean the nib or leave it fully immersed.

Immersion slows the flow without stopping it completely. The water acts as a retarder, preventing drying while allowing ink to descend slowly by gravity.

Empty the colored water and rinse with clean water. For deeper cleaning, use warm or hot water. The stand is dishwasher safe.
